Immigration Medical Exam Information (FAQ)

1) What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Please bring one valid form of identification, such as:
   •    Passport
   •    Employment Authorization Document (EAD)
   •    State-issued ID or driver’s license

If available, please also bring your vaccination records. This helps avoid receiving unnecessary vaccines.
   •    If you do not have vaccination records, you may still complete the exam.
   •    For children, school vaccination records are required, as they reflect current state immunization requirements.

2) How much does the exam cost if I am a returning patient?

The standard exam fee is:
   •    $600 for adults
   •    $400 for children under age 15

If you previously completed an immigration medical exam with Dr. Meer and require a new exam, discounted pricing   may apply:
   •    $550 for adults
   •    $350 for children

 Please note:
Depending on your specific immigration case, USCIS may require portions of the exam to be repeated.

3) Do I need to fast before my appointment?

No fasting is required.

 We recommend that you:
   •    Eat a normal meal
   •    Stay well hydrated

This helps prevent discomfort or adverse reactions during blood work or vaccinations.

Patients between the ages of 18 and 24 should arrive well hydrated, as a urine sample may be required.

4) Is the exam fee only $600, or are there additional costs?

The exam fee covers the standard USCIS-required medical evaluation. Paying with cash is only $600. With credit cards, we charge a 3.5% fee, that is $21.
However, additional costs may apply in certain situations, including:
   •    If a required vaccine is needed based on your test results
   •    If additional testing or follow-up is required

Our office provides adult booster vaccines when indicated, including:
   •    Hepatitis
   •    Tetanus
   •    Polio
   •    Influenza (seasonal)

If additional vaccines are needed beyond what we provide:
   •    Dr. Meer will issue a prescription
   •    Vaccines can be obtained at a pharmacy
   •    Insurance may be used at the pharmacy, if applicable

If tuberculosis screening requires further evaluation (which is uncommon), a chest X-ray may be required at an imaging center. Insurance typically covers this service when performed off-site.

5) What is included in the $600 immigration medical exam?

The exam includes all USCIS-required components, including:
   •    Comprehensive physical examination
   •    Blood work to assess immunity for required vaccines, including:
   •    Hepatitis B
   •    Tetanus
   •    Polio
   •    Influenza (seasonal, when applicable)
   •    Testing for:
   •    Tuberculosis
   •    Syphilis
   •    Gonorrhea (age-dependent, per USCIS guidelines)
   •    Completion of Form I-693, properly sealed for USCIS
   •    A copy of your completed medical exam and vaccination record for your personal records
